Firefighting Simulator: Ignite is an AA firefighting simulation game developed by Weltenbauer, released in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and awarded Best Technical Achievement at the German Developer Award 2025.
As Senior Environment Artist, I was responsible for the exterior environments across the game's mission locations, built in Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen, Nanite, Landscape tools, PCG, and SpeedTree vegetation. My work covered large-scale world-building - terrain, foliage, streets, and surrounding structures - with a strong focus on readability and atmosphere under fire and smoke, while keeping performance in check through careful LOD, draw call, and streaming optimization across open mission areas.
I worked closely with mission design and development to make sure the exteriors supported gameplay flow, vehicle routes, and technical constraints, and led and mentored a cross-discipline team of 10+ artists - running art reviews, driving the quality bar, and onboarding new team members throughout production.
A huge thank you to the whole team at Weltenbauer - this project would not have been possible without their skill, dedication, and collaboration.
